III European Workshop on Unmanned Maritime Systems (the workshop will be held during the Fórum Mar 2014)

This workshop is co-organized by EDA, European Defence Agency, the Portuguese Ministry of National Defence and by INESC Technology and Science and will have the support of Oceano XXI that will host it in the Fórum Mar 2014 (Sea Fórum). Oriented to researchers and end-users, the main goal is to promote the exchange of information on the subject, encouraging disclosure of what currently exists and what is being tested. By the end of this month ends the call for abstracts for presentations seeking to operate within the theme.

APC Workshop - Atlantic Power Cluster

WavEC Offshore Renewables and INEGI – Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management are organizing the workshop: "Business opportunities in marine renewables.". The program includes a brief introduction to the project Atlantic Power Cluster, followed by two plenary sessions in which it seeks to present, in a transversal way, the Portuguese reality in the marine renewables sector. Portuguese PwC Experts and invited speakers will review the course followed by Portugal in terms of the Sea Economy, based on a set of indicators and information derived from a conducted survey to personalities associated with this sector.

Lecture " immunomodulation in fish: benefits for aquaculture and future challenges"

The Centre for Environmental Monitoring and Interpretation of Matosinhos (CMIA) is organizing this lecture where Dr. Benjamín Costas (from CIIMAR) will talk about how aquaculture has been growing and a little about the advances and discoveries that in the past two decades have made under interactions of nutrition, vaccination, immune system and disease resistance, with emphasis on aquaculture interest fish species.

Towards sustainable and technically sustainable exploitation of the Sea, the training of human resources with knowledge and ability to operate at Sea and to meet the demands of new activities and jobs is essential. This workshop, organized by Oceano XXI and Universidade Lusófona do Porto, tries to place the survey of training needs in different areas of the Sea activity and confronts them with existing training opportunities through the participation of higher education institutions, members of Oceano XXI.

Infoday National Horizon 2020 Societal Challenge Secure Energy, Clean and Efficient

The Framework Programme Promotion Office of the Foundation for Science and Technology and the Directorate General for Energy and Geology, are organizing an information session about funding opportunities for Research and Innovation in the Energy Horizon 2020. The main objective of this session is to inform and facilitate timely information to the Portuguese authorities (public and private) in the next contests these initiatives.
